About me

Hello, my name is Luana and I would like to welcome you to my profile page.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I provide one-to-one counselling in my London practices in Chelsea and Hammersmith.

“What brings you here?”

This question potentially marks the beginning of our exploratory journey, where you will be invited to talk about what motivated you to look for help and what you would hope to achieve through our sessions.

I am fully committed to providing a confidential and relaxed space, within which you can feel safe to express your difficulties, worries and concerns, both past and present. Together we aim to co-create a stimulating and reflective collaboration that recognises and validates your personal experience and develops new perspectives to facilitate change.

My training is integrative; tailoring the therapy to sensitively attend to your unique needs, personality and expectations, drawing mainly from humanistic and psychodynamic theories.   I share the humanistic belief that human beings, given the opportunity, have the innate tendency to develop their full potential. I am also particularly interested in a holistic approach that meets our biological and psychological needs to form secure and meaningful relationships to foster emotional wellbeing and growth during the course of our life.

Through the years, I have been supporting clients with their own subjective experiences of stress, depression, anxiety, loss, bereavement, work related issues, relationship difficulties, trauma, different forms of abuse, life transitions, sexual and gender identity, low self-esteem, physical illness related issues, loneliness and isolation.

I have experience in both time limited and long term practice, in the public sector for the NHS Psychological Services as well as in agency settings. I can work either for an agreed duration or on an open ended basis. I would like to emphasise that there is no obligation for you to remain in counselling if you decide you no longer wish to do so.

Originally from Italy, I have been living in London for over 25 year and I offer my sessions in English and Italian.

In both my personal and professional capacity, I deeply respect and value diversity and warmly welcome to my practice, people from all communities, races, ethnicities, faiths, cultures, abilities, gender and sexualities.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy: Ongoing (Metanoia Institute)
  • BACP Certificate of Proficiency
  • CPCAB Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling (Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Academy-CPTA)
  • CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Studies (CPTA)
  • CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills (CPTA)

I am committed to my on-going professional development, integrating ‘leading edge’ research and clinical developments to enhance my work.

I am a registered member of BACP, which has strict ethical code and professional standards of confidentiality and practice to which I subscribe.

I have experience in time limited and long term counselling in primary care, for NHS Psychological Services’ IAPT Programme, as well as in agency settings, i.e. MIND Tower Hamlet and Newham, West London Centre for Counselling and Place2Be.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
