About me

A warm welcome to my page. You have taken a courageous first step by seeking out sources of support. Every now and then life can become overwhelming with obstacles that can be difficult to overcome. It may be a relationship that brings in the challenge or a social, behavioural, financial or work-related issue or you may have past experiences that are still impacting your life today. The worries that keep you up at night may be due to many reasons but if they are taking over and leave you feeling isolated, fraught or exhausted it might be time to seek support from someone who can help you navigate through the difficult time. Whether you're seeking specific change or healing from deep wounds I can help.

My foundational approach is person centred, this puts you at the heart of the process, giving you the space to bring the issues most important to you, which may change as therapy progresses. My role particularly at the beginning is that of supportive guide as your personal themes and challenges arise. As an integrative therapist I can draw from a number of models as and when they seem most helpful/appropriate. I tailor sessions to your needs. You are a unique person after all. I would be interested in exploring with you your history in as much as it is impacting your present experiences so you can with compassion make sense of beliefs or behaviours which are no longer serving you.  Ultimately, this broader perspective can create space for new and more adaptive ways of engaging with your world.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 6 years working as a psychology lecturer in a University in the UK. I also have many years’ experience as a holistic therapist both teaching and practicing. This has provided deep insights into neurobiological processes which combined with specific trauma training informs my approach to this type of work to disrupt trauma responses and increase emotion regulation capacities to free you from the devastating impacts of painful and frightening experiences.

I’m looking forward to meeting you so that together we can work towards resolutions. Please get in touch with a call or text to set up a free initial session when we can talk about what you want to get out of counselling; if you are happy to continue we can agree a regular time for ongoing appointments.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
