About me

My name is Louise and I am a neurodivergent Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and  certified Autism Clinical Specialist. I offer in person, online, and email counselling sessions for both adults and young people.

My approach is rooted in authenticity, self connection, inclusion and acceptance.  I believe in creating a safe and accepting space where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgment.  It is my hope that my down to earth, compassionate and none judgemental nature will allow you to feel safely supported to creatively  explore and unravel the difficulties you are facing at present.

How Can I Help?

I work with adults and young people and my practice is inclusive and welcoming to individuals of all backgrounds, identities and orientations.  I am also committed to the empowerment of neurodivergent individuals and their families, embracing unique qualities, promoting acceptance, self-advocacy, and fostering positive relationships.  With a unique perspective shaped by both personal and professional experience, I bring a deep understanding of neurodivergence to my practice.  As someone who is also Autistic/ADHD I strive to provide compassionate and holistic support to individuals navigating the complexities of neurodivergence.

I work with a wide variety of issues, with expertise in the following areas:

Adults

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Low Self Esteem/Low Self Worth
  • Burnout
  • Self Care
  • Work/Personal Related Stress
  • Relationship Issues
  • Neurodivergence
  • Emotional Regulation

Young People

  • Anxiety
  • Panic
  • Worry
  • Low Mood
  • Neurodivergence
  • Emotional Regulation
  • Self Harm
  • Parent Support and Guidance

What Can You Expect From Me?

I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities to suit a clients needs, providing comprehensive and effective counselling.  I am a firm believer that one size does not fit all, and therefore my approach is client led, working in collaboration with you and/or your child, to decide on the most suitable approach.

I understand that it can be difficult to accept that you or your child are in need of help or support, and I recognise that once you have bravely made the decision to reach out for this, it can be an even harder task to find the right person to work with.  I could write a huge list of the different ways I work and the many ways I can help you, however I feel none of this would give you a real sense of who I am.  Counselling begins with two people, the client and the therapist, and it is within this relationship that healing can be facilitated. I hope the following passage helps you to gain a sense of 'me,' what our therapeutic relationship will look like, and enable you to decide whether I am the right person for you:

As your therapist I will not try to fix you, but rather gently remind you that you're not broken. I will not give you advice or tell you what you should do, but rather give supportive space for you to connect with your own inner wisdom and explore what feels right for you. I will not assume I know more about you than you do, but rather acknowledge and trust that you are the expert on you. And finally, I will not insist I have all the answers to make your difficulties disappear, but rather honour the fact that together we can find ways to make those difficulties easier to sit with.

If this feels like the space that you've been needing then please get in touch. and we shall take the next step together.

I look forward to collaborating with you to create positive change, greater understanding, acceptance and lasting emotional growth.  Your well-being is my priority and together we can navigate life's complexities with compassion and resilience.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
