About me

I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work face-to-face in a dedicated counselling room in Sevenoaks, Kent and also via Zoom.

My main approach is Humanistic, with a person-centred focus. This means that I put you, as the expert on yourself, at the centre of our work together. People come to counselling for different reasons and at different stages of their life and I make no assumptions about what you want and need from counselling. I will listen and let you tell me what is important for you and what you are looking to make sense of.

Creating a space where you can talk openly and honestly, with no judgement, I can support you in exploring difficult experiences and feelings and how these are impacting on your life and relationships, gaining a better understanding of yourself as we walk the path together. Counselling offers you time you can dedicate to connecting with yourself and processing any challenging experiences and feelings.

I work with adults (16+) and am experienced in supporting individuals with anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, disordered eating, sexual assault,  work-related stress, bereavement and loss, transitional life periods, menopause and life-limiting physical health conditions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have undergone additional training to work on-line alongside my face-to-face practice. I complete regular professional development to ensure I am best placed to support my clients, including certificates in working with anxiety, depression, trauma-informed care, bereavement and loss, pregnancy and Infant loss, infertility and disordered eating.  I am experienced working with adults who are experiencing anxiety and depression, low self-esteem. bereavement and loss, trauma, sexual assault and rape, relationship difficulties, disordered eating, transitional life periods, career change and life-limiting and chronic physical health conditions.  I have worked additionally as a volunteer counsellor for a mental health charity and a cancer support charity and am an experienced mental health awareness training facilitator, specialising in supporting workplaces and employees understand and combat work-related stress.. I am also a CPCAB counselling tutor, tutoring those on a path a become qualified counsellors.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

You may have been to counselling before or this may the first time you are looking to engage with a therapist. Either way, it can understandably be a difficult step to make.  In the first instance, I offer a short, free phone call to answer any specific questions and, if you choose, an introductory session, where we can sit together and you can find out for yourself whether I could be the right counsellor for you. Both Introductory sessions and, if you chose to proceed, any subsequent sessions are 50-minutes and are charged at £60.
