About me

There may be times in your life when you are faced with emotional difficulties and not sure which direction to take or who to turn to.  Anxiety or depression could be all consuming and unhelpful thoughts become overwhelming. You may have support from those around you and gain comfort from this, although sometimes you may not be able to share what you want to talk about. It's times like this that counselling may help.

Hi, I'm Lisa, an accredited counsellor based in Knutsford, Cheshire.  I have a depth of experience working with emotional difficulties especially anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues and loss.

You will be listened to, heard and regarded and by working together will help to identify your own resources and strengths so that you can work towards positive outcomes or change.  I am passionate about what I do and feel privileged to work with people who trust me to share their journey and experiences.  I pride myself on being real, honest and deeply empathetic and able to work at your own pace.

I work with adults, couples, young adults and older children and have sessions during the day and evenings.

Counselling offers a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space, where you can talk to someone impartial about what is troubling you and by working together, can help you make sense of what is happening in your life, finding understanding and awareness, new coping strategies and techniques which you can take away with you as a 'life skills' tools bag.

Experienced using a variety of evidenced approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy; to help identify thought patterns, feelings and behaviours,  Eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) which helps alleviate distress and memories associated with trauma, as well as phobias and other triggers.  I am also an accredited EFT practitioner (tapping) which helps limiting beliefs, phobias and can help regulate emotion.

Experience working with anxiety, loss/grief, depression, relationships, trauma, identify, peri/menopause and those affected by illness, including cancer to name but a few.

Please call me to see how we can work together or to ask any questions about how counselling may help or visit my website:

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
