Lisa Weaver MBACP (Accred)
Welcome to Open Wings; Offering Counselling, Supervision and Reiki. Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
My name is Lisa Weaver and I trained in Crystal Healing and as a Reiki Master in 2004.
Whilst treating clients I became aware of the potential emotional shift or release and felt additional skills would benefit both me and my clients during this process.
I took a basic counselling course in 2010 and became so interested in psychotherapeutic work, I continued my training to gain a full qualification in 2015.
How counselling can help
From time to time life can be challenging and we find ourselves faced with change, loss or other life event that causes some emotional discomfort. During these times we may find great comfort from those close to us, yet feel additional support is required.
Counselling offers you an opportunity to express and process your thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental relationship and environment.
How I work
I am trained as an integrative counsellor, which means I am trained in several different theories and therapeutic approaches and will combine those techniques depending on the needs of my client. Integrating different theories allows me to draw on elements of each, to best help and support individual clients and their current needs.
I work with loss, change, anxiety, depression, confidence, relationship difficulties and more.
My counselling approach includes the theories and concepts of; CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, working with thoughts, feelings and behaviours), Gestalt (resolution of past issues and experience in the present moment), Person-Centred (self worth and values) and Transactional Analysis (communication and relationships).
I have regular supervision to support my work with clients, my personal and professional development and to ensure I am working ethically. Client confidentiality is honoured throughout my work with individuals as well as during my supervision.
I am based in Bedfordshire and work from an air conditioned studio in Tebworth, near Leighton Buzzard. Online sessions are also available.
The first step to making a commitment to your well-being is booking your first appointment.
An initial counselling assessment appointment is necessary to enable you to get a feel for what counselling involves and how it may help you. This is your opportunity to ask any questions or raise any concerns you may have before making such a commitment.
Here we will discuss the practicalities of counselling and this time will enable me to make an assessment of your presenting problems and difficulties and decide with you, the goals of counselling and areas to be worked on in future sessions.
More importantly, this initial session is designed for you to make an assessment of your ability to work with me and does not commit you to continue with future sessions.
The therapeutic relationship is fundamental in your therapy and therefore if you do not feel that I am the right person to work with you, then it is important we discuss this to ensure you do find a counsellor you feel comfortable with.
What is Reiki?
Reiki allows a sense of calm and relaxation during difficult times and can aid acceptance, bring comfort and an ability to cope better with the challenges of life.
The method of receiving Reiki is simple; the client remains clothed and lies on a couch or sits on a chair and relaxes. The practitioner gently places their hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on or near the body. The whole person is treated rather than specific areas.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
