About me

I am experienced in working therapeutically with many of the emotional difficulties in life.

Examples of some of the therapy areas covered...

  • Relationship struggles (family, intimate, work)
  • Loss and sadness
  • Issues with low self-esteem, fearfulness and feeling lost
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Guilt and Regret
  • Painful past events and memories
  • Addictive or repetitive choices

I also work with life’s transitions such as retirement, illness, bereavement or changes in self-perception as well as challenges relating to identity and what it might mean to lead an authentic life.

My approach...

I use a psychodynamic therapy approach.  Together we would explore your thinking processes, those that are obvious and not so obvious, so you can understand better what might be going on in your life and potentially gain some control over the alternatives that might be available to you. Your past and present experiences might often feature together in our conversations.  I appreciate that the idea of this might feel a little daunting to begin with.  From our very first session I am open to whatever you need to bring and meeting you with a curious and calm interest. I won’t tell you what to do and I won’t judge you.

Can therapy help me?

Yes.  I understand that disappointment in life comes in many forms and facing up to it can be tricky and painful. Sometimes a lot of our energy is spent avoiding or denying our true feelings and even what we might really want or where compromise can be found.  This isn't always very helpful to us.  Therapy provides a safe space and an opportunity to confront our difficulties and even 'free us up' in some way to face the realities of living.  There may even be other benefits as yet unknown but unique to you.

How I work...

I usually work on a longer term open-ended basis (regular ongoing confidential sessions) but I can also support short term therapy work depending on the situation or issue.  I am fully trained and qualified in both approaches.  I work online and in-person.

If you are interested in potentially working with me please get in touch and we can take it from there.  I can guide you through the process step by step.  It’s up to you how you want to proceed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist (working with clients since 2014). I have also completed a range of additional training in relation to brief-focused therapy work and other emotionally complex issues.

I am registered and accredited with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and abide by their Code of Ethics.

I also facilitate adult group work and I teach psychodynamic theory and practice to trainee therapists in a therapy training organisation in London.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
