About me
Hi, I'm Laura and I'm a person-centred psychotherapist. I support clients who struggle to navigate their needs in everyday life. Do you feel frustrated by your concern with what others think of you? Perhaps you fear attention and this leads to missed opportunities? We can work together to grow your confidence and self-esteem.
I am currently working with clients on a short-term basis (6-10 sessions). Short-term therapy can offer a needed focus and commitment to sessions, along with a sense of financial security to budget for the investment in yourself.
Here are some short-term goals that you may feel relatable:
- Voicing my ideas/opinions/concerns at work
- Attending a social event that presently feels intimidating
- Speaking in public
- Establishing and enforcing a boundary with confidence
Personally, I've had my own experiences where feeling self-conscious has pressed pause on my life. I specialise in working with people who identify as shy and/or socially anxious. Through my personal experiences, I offer a supportive space that develops compassion for who you authentically are. My work is not about you becoming the loudest person in the room (unless that feels truly aligned to you), but becoming confident in your abilities and your value so that you're able to show up for yourself.
The clients I tend to work with often feel frustrated and self-critical towards themselves as they feel they are getting in the way of their life experiences. They often have potential that they want to express while also feeling fearful of being seen and noticed. This fear holds them back and they feel like they frequently miss out and that they're in their own way.
As a person-centred therapist, I believe that you are the expert of your life. Because of this, you have full control over what you share in our sessions and I will listen with empathy and without judgement. We will work together and discover what is important to you and how you can move forward and live a fulfilling life.
I offer face-to-face therapy at a quaint cottage just outside of St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Chestnut Cottage is a private, confidential space where you will be welcomed by comforting furnishings and a log-burning stove. If you are not local to St Neots, or would prefer to choose the location you have therapy, I also offer video therapy remotely and I am happy to work in a "hybrid" way, where some sessions are remote and some in-person.
If you don't feel ready to start therapy, but what to begin your self-development. I, alongside another qualified therapist, have created a self-study course called The Shyness & Self-Esteem Series. I encourage you to see the full details on my website.
