About me
Welcome, I'm Laura, a UKCP accredited Core Process Psychotherapist with a degree in Psychology (BSc), a diploma in Humanistic psychotherapeutic counselling and a Masters (MA) in mindfulness-based psychotherapeutic practice.
If you're suffering right now, I'd really like to support you. It can feel daunting to reach out yet I believe it's the first step towards making a positive change for your health and well-being. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, anger, panic attacks, low self-esteem or bereavement. You could have unresolved trauma, family issues, addiction or a chronic illness that's deeply affecting your life. Whatever's bringing you to therapy, I offer a warm, safe, confidential space where we'll work through your difficulties together, at a pace you're comfortable with. You'll be deeply listened to without judgement, respectfully witnessed and met with compassion.
Core Process psychotherapy is the original mindfulness based psychotherapy training in the UK, integrating the wisdom of Buddhist psychology and mindfulness practice with approaches based in Western developmental psychology and neuroscience . It's also a trauma-informed practice, guided by Peter Levine's somatic experiencing work and Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory.
I work both in person and online, welcoming adults of all ages and histories. Each of us in unique so I offer varying levels of support tailored to your individual needs. For some this may be a shorter journey working on specific issues. Whilst for others it will be a longer term commitment where you'll benefit from working at depth to explore more complex issues that feel deeply embedded in your life.
There's a rapidy growing evidence base that mindfulness can support our mental well being. During our time together, I'll support you to gently develop curiosity and awareness of what you're experiencing in both your mind and body. This allows us to step outside of our struggles and begin to witness our moment to moment process of understanding and making meaning in the world. This can enable us to notice how past experiences or future projections often intrude upon our present moment perceptions, creating patterns of response. From the open space of greater awareness, we can reflect together on whether the patterns that perhaps once helped you survive are still helpful and needed or perhaps now limiting and holding you back from being your authentic self.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
