About me

My name is Kerry and I am a fully qualified Person-centred counsellor. I am currently offering counselling face to face, online, walk and talk and via telephone in frome and Glastonbury.

Choosing the right therapist can seem quite a daunting prospect, especially when life already feels overwhelming. I, therefore, hope to ease any concerns and dispel any fears of what counselling really is.

I offer a safe, confidential space for counselling where individuals find their voice and can be heard and feel valued. Sometimes simply being heard can be sufficient to alleviate pain and difficult feelings. Having your story and your feelings witnessed and validated is extraordinarily powerful and provides the catalyst for change. I will offer you insights and reflections, not options or solutions. I help individuals by supporting them to talk freely about their issues which they are struggling with. I then help them step back and look again at their responses. This promotes insight and enables individuals to develop new and creative ways of responding to the challenges they face.

I provide counselling to individuals. Over the past three years, I have gained experience working for Cruse in an agency setting, helping clients come to terms with bereavement. Bereavement after a loss can arise from changes and life transitions such as a breakdown of a relationship, divorce, break up, separation, betrayal, death of a loved one, loss of your health, retirement, miscarriage, loss of trust, or abandonment.

I can help you to engage with your emotions as they are right now, and gain a deeper understanding of them, yourself and your experiences of loss, grief and bereavement. I can also help with depression, feeling low, self-criticism, anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting issues, childhood trauma, loneliness, discrimination, work or the lack of it, gender identity, addiction and self-harm.

Although predominantly Person-centred, I am able to support you in an integrative way, occasionally drawing upon different counselling approaches to meet your particular needs. We will look at what brings you to therapy and explore a new way forward.

If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment, feel free to contact me safely and discreetly via email, text or phone. Within our first session, we will explore what you want to get out of counselling and how I am able to support you with your needs. If there is a mutual feeling that we are able to work together, we can then arrange our next session, with a view to setting up regular meetings.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
