About me

Whether you are taking the first step to try therapy or re-entering therapy, it is a big personal and financial investment. It can feel daunting. Let's demystify it.  My invitation of therapy is to create space and time for yourself to:

  • to 'pause' and try to process your struggles more objectively
  • work integratively on how the body, mind, and feelings interact
  • befriend and parse out our feelings and anxieties
  • reflect on our lived experience: the workplaces, home life, family structures and how you relate to the world and others
  • explore unmet desires, fears and sorrows
  • offer clarity and context
  • make meaning of your life
  • stabilise

Training, qualifications & experience

  • I am a professionally qualified integrative counsellor (Dip, MBACP) trained in a number of tools and theoretical frameworks that are tailored according to your needs.
  • I have previously worked with East Sussex NHS Macmillan cancer patients and their families.
  • I have previously worked and trained with Place2Be, the largest young people's mental health charity, where I worked with teenagers using creative tools and play.
  • I am also a trained social scientist (MA, Sociology, Goldsmiths). The combination of the two studies allows me to see the bigger picture of the larger systems and structures that affect our social lived realities. Factors such as addiction, bereavement, chronic illness, gender issues, loneliness, poverty, racism, social status, and more do not occur in isolation nor are they strictly limited to childhood.
  • My theoretical emphasis is Psychodynamic and Psychosocial science, encompassing memory, history, and trauma that can inform and shape our mind and behaviour. I also offer practical tools and techniques. Counselling is not an idle vocation; I engage, I challenge, I encourage, I witness, I contain and keep safe - this is also how I was trained.
  • I am an individual member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which means I work within their ethical principles and guidelines working with integrity and accountability.
  • I am part of the Psychologists for Social Change network.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
