About me

PRIVATE PRACTICE IN RICHMOND TW9 and OXFORD CIRCUS W1

ABOUT ME

I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a private practice based in two separate locations in central Richmond Upon Thames. I also work online via Zoom, FaceTime and WhatsApp.

I offer a confidential space where you can feel safe, understood and trusted as you start to explore the reasons why you feel as you do.

I have considerable experience working with clients who seek help for a range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low mood, panic disorder, family and relationship issues, loss, low self-esteem, work-related stress, and addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, internet).I have many years experience of working with 12-step programmes.

I am experienced in short-term counselling as well as long term therapy and work with adult clients of all ages and backgrounds.

I am also an accredited Hatha Yoga teacher.

HOW THERAPY CAN HELP

Therapy is a very personal process. It gives you the chance to explore your thoughts, behaviour and emotions in a safe and impartial setting, outside your usual circles of family and friends, and with a trained professional whom you can trust to keep things confidential.

Talking about your difficulties, and working them through in this setting, can help you see things from a different perspective. As well as helping to ease emotional difficulties or destructive behavioural patterns, it can lead to deep and long-lasting changes allowing you to move forward with increased confidence and resource to meet life's challenges, and a greater openness to new experiences.

MY APPROACH

As an Integrative therapist I am able to draw on a range of knowledge and skills from different established theoretical backgrounds - particularly Psychodynamic, Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies. We are all unique and this way of working helps me to adapt the therapy to fit the client, rather than adapting the client to fit the therapy.

My overall aim is to provide a safe and empathic environment where you can find understanding of where problems originate, process the feelings experienced as you acquire this understanding, and begin to heal and move forwards in your life, with greater confidence and reourcefulness.

THE NEXT STEP

Finding the right therapist is a challenging process and I aim to make it as straightforward and helpful as possible. Please feel free to email me with any questions you have, or to book an initial session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
