About me

Hi there, my name is Kelly Rowley and I am a BACP registered Counsellor based in a Historic building in the heart of Stafford. I pride myself on offering a safe and confidential environment for you to explore whatever it may be that is on your mind. My role as a Counsellor is to help you to become at peace with yourself and to arm you with the tools that will enable you to prosper in your future. We all hit a bump in the road sometimes, especially in today's fast paced world, but nothing is insurmountable when you realise just how formidable you are.

What I Offer

With a passion to help people that goes back to childhood, and a professional background in Mental Health that dates back to 2008, I am confident that I have the necessary tools to help you overcome any issue that is hampering you in your life and possibly even impacting your relationships. Maybe you are suffering from generalised anxiety disorder, or struggling with a phobia? Perhaps you are finding it hard to deal with a bereavement, or you are crippled by low self-confidence? You could even just be feeling sad and not know why. Whatever it is, reaching out for help is the first step towards recovery. Probably the most important step of all.

In my Counselling career, I have helped many male and female client's from varying age groups, sexual orientation and cultural backgrounds overcome a wide range of issues such as those ones mentioned above (as well as many more). My style of Counselling is Pluralistic, which allows me the freedom of many different models of therapy. These therapies include CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Person Centred Therapy, Existential, Mindfulness, Psycho Dynamic amongst others. I aim to offer you as a client a completely personal experience in order for you to get the most from the sessions. It may be that you benefit from one style of Counselling over another or you might even know specifically what type of Counselling you want to try before you come to see me. The important thing is that you are comfortable enough to open up and that you ultimately make progress in the sessions.

Free Consultation

In order for you to see if I am the right Counsellor for you, I offer a free 20 minute consultation with no obligation to continue with the service afterwards. This helps you to see if you could envision yourself working with me, and for you to outline exactly what you are looking to get out of Counselling. It also allows me to explain to you a bit more about what I do and how I would intend to help you if you decided that you wanted to book a session. If, after the consultation you decide that you would like to view alternative options then there will be absolutely no hard feelings whatsoever. I can even try to help you find a more suitable solution if you require. Picking a Counsellor is an important decision and one that you should take great consideration over.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Staffordshire University - Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

My counselling experience includes counselling college students aged 16-18, as well as my current role of associate counsellor for the NHS, which is solely for adults. I have tried to vary my experience as much as I possibly can so that I can provide the best service possible for my clients.

The professional roles I've had in the past have not only developed my counselling skills, but also enhanced my understanding of the differing issues that come from different age groups, gender, sexual orientation and race.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
