About me

Life can be challenging and take its toll and never more so than in today's climate.  But when things become too much, where do you turn?  Do you need time and space to explore the difficulties you are experiencing without feeling ashamed, embarrassed, alone or that your problems are too much for the people closest to you? I provide a safe space for you to explore your life and help you bring about real and meaningful change.

You may be struggling to cope with difficult emotions following a major change or loss in your life.  You could be struggling to deal with debilitating feelings of anxiety, depression or sadness which is affecting your self-esteem.  You may feel angry and have difficulty expressing yourself.  Whatever the reason that has brought you here, we can talk openly in confidence.  We can work together, enabling you to bring about the change you desire.

How I can help

I trained as an integrative practitioner which means that our work is all about you.  No two people are the same.  We deal with issues differently and see and experience things differently, that is why your counselling will be unique to you as an individual.  We will work together where you can feel safe to open up and explore the things you may not want to say out loud, without feeling judged.

I offer counselling in person based at my practice in Morley or remotely via video or phone.  I also offer outdoor (walk and talk) sessions, which can be a great way to connect in person, if you are feeling anxious.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and follow their ethical framework.

I hold a full DBS check and am trained in safeguarding.

Alongside private practice, I worked for a bereavement charity providing grief counselling specialising in Covid pathways.  I have also provided counselling support services within the voluntary sector for families and teaching staff across schools in Leeds and supported student mental health at a local college.

Whilst I believe in the training, knowledge, and skills I bring to the counselling room, the most encouraging feedback I get from my clients is that they feel heard and they feel that I really understand them and their problems. For me this is transformational.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

One of the rooms I work from is fully accessible for wheelchair users so please mention this requirement when booking
