About me

Life can often be or become unmanageable, together we can make sense of what's going on for you.

Talking4Change comes from the idea that given the right conditions, time and understanding it is possible to make effective and positive changes to your life and to the way you feel through talking to an experienced counsellor.

How counselling can help

Counselling may help you to work through any problems, difficulties or worries you are experiencing in your current life or your history - give you new perspective and understanding - provide you with the tools and techniques to build resilience along with increasing self-awareness, self-confidence and self-esteem.

I am able to offer you regular, uninterrupted time, a space where you are able to talk confidentially and be heard.

I offer a warm and gentle approach with compassion and kindness, a calm environment to explore your thoughts with acceptance and understanding.

I believe that the relationship and trust built between therapist and client is an important aspect to the counselling process being successful, you are able to bring what you want to the sessions in your time, working at your pace and in your direction.  I will hear all your experiences as meaningful and unique without judgement.

If you would like to find out more about how we could work together please telephone or email for more information or to arrange a no obligation consultation to determine if I am the right therapist for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 15 years experience within the healthcare sector before training  over 5 years as an Integrative Counsellor and a Cognitive behavioural therapist

As an integrative counsellor I believe there is no one approach which suits each client therefore I combine different elements of specific therapies to ensure a tailor made service which is right for you.

In addition to private practice I work for an Employee Assistance Programme counselling individuals and supporting their whole health and wellbeing needs.

I joined the YMCA Bournemouth as a volunteer counsellor in July 2020 becoming a member of the staff counselling team in July 2021.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and as such am bound by its ethical framework for good practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
