About me

I support adults aged 18+ from a variety of cultures and backgrounds and I work affirmatively with the LGBTQI+ community and I am an LGBTQI+ ally. Sessions are offered face to face as well as via Zoom, telephone and outdoors. I work with (but not limited to) trauma, bereavement, depression, anxiety, sexual and domestic violence, self-harm, relationship issues, stress and identity, including low self-esteem.

I will be by your side to understand where you want to go, who you want to be and how to get there; focusing on what matters to you, offering new perspectives, gentle challenges and an opportunity to feel lighter.

The decision to come to counselling can be nerve wracking but can also be the first step to bringing understanding and change to your life to get you back to the you that you want to be. In a world fraught with so many challenges and hurdles, I aim to support you with compassion, an open ear and open mind, acknowledging your needs and validating your experiences.

You may feel you have lost yourself, or you are seeking some change in your life. You may have recently experienced loss, and now find you're struggling to navigate your world. You may be experiencing anxiety or depression and want to find a way out or perhaps you want to feel better about yourself or your relationship and work out where you’re going. Sometimes you may just need someone to talk to at a difficult time.

If you would like to have a discussion, I offer a free 15 telephone or Zoom consultation. You can contact me via email, text or phone and we can then arrange a suitable time to talk, to explore your needs and potentially book a session if you feel comfortable to do so.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with a range of adult clients from a variety of backgrounds who have presented issues including (but not limited to) Depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, loneliness, suicidal thoughts, domestic violence, bereavement and loss, perfectionism, low self-esteem/confidence, long term illness, relationship difficulties and life transitions.

I have also undertaken training with the Foundation for Infant Loss, developing my skills in grief and trauma surrounding pregnancy and infant loss.

I enjoy learning and feel that it is important as a therapist that I keep learning and developing to ultimately benefit you, the client.

I have experience counselling for universities as well as domestic violence and bereavement charities.

I also currently work with a charity supporting survivors of sexual violence and trauma.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Walk and Talk/Outdoor Counselling is what it says on the tin - we meet outside and walk and talk. In these sessions, you set the pace of the walk and have the opportunity to let the outside in. This can provide an alternative to looking at a screen, or speaking into the phone, offering a change of scenery and allowing nature be a part of the sessions.
