About me
My name is Karen and I am a person centred therapist now working from home two days a week. I have a lot of experience helping Adults and Adolescents. I am a humanistic therapist in that I believe we all have inside of us the understanding to reach our potential and with the help of someone else listening we can reach that potential and really learn more about ourselves and our needs.
I have experience with Anxiety, trauma and bereavement but issues you bring to me I will work with you at our initial assessment to see if you feel I am the right person for you. My office is in my house and there is a few stairs or if needed I have a quiet room downstairs with privacy. I will charge 45 pounds for 60 minutes 0r 35 pounds for concessions.
I am also able to offer a free 30 mins taster session so you can meet me and see if we might work together. Meeting a new therapist is daunting and I would want you to have the right person. There is no obligation to start after taster but I can answer any questions. Before we meet at my home I would ask that we can chat on the phone first so you hear my voice and I can hear yours. If you prefer email only again I understand and am happy to communicate initially by email if you prefer.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a medical background in that i was a children's nurse for many years at the Norfolk Norwich Hospital.
I have A certificate from the University of East Anglia Counselling Skills.
I have a Diploma in person centred therapy and qualified in 2017. I trained at the Norwich Centre over two years.
I have experience working with young adults who self harm and suffer from anxiety having worked in a mental health secure unit for six months. I have three years Counselling Experience from working in private practice and two charities.
I have also worked with the YMCA as a lodgings provider and I enjoy helping young people 18- 25 with their mental health needs and living needs.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
