About me

As a consequence of Covid19 I am currently working online using Zoom or telephone for sessions.

Are you wanting to come to terms with aspects of your life? Or do you want to become happier, more fulfilled or empowered. I offer a respectful, confidential and meaningful therapeutic space in which you can explore ways to improve the quality of your life. I am currently seeing clients via Zoom and I have completed a Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling.

I work with many types of client concerns, including bereavement and loss, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, low self esteem, lack of confidence, work related stress and finding meaning.

I would be happy to talk through my approach prior to any appointment being made to allow you to gain an understanding of how it might feel to work with me.

Psychotherapy and Counselling:

My approach is integrative, collaborative and ultimately optimistic. Having worked as a therapist since 2003 I have a deep understanding of how to work sensitively as a counsellor. My broad experience allows me to support clients in achieving beneficial outcomes.

Most people will experience anxious thoughts and feelings from time to time. For others it is linked to particular situations or social events. Sometimes anxiety can be a general day to day occurrence. I work with clients in order to help them understand what is happening and find ways of reducing anxious feelings and replace them with empowering thoughts and actions.

Enhancing Self Esteem & Confidence

I have worked with many clients to support them increase self esteem and build confidence.

Many people have experienced trauma whether in childhood or later on. My approach is respectful and considered to help clients free themselves of past sadness, hurt or abuse.

Supervision is essential for good practice and I believe can be an enjoyable, as well as, useful arrangement. Please see my Supervision Profile for details.

Coaching and Creating Positive Change:

I also offer solution focused therapy and coaching.

I can help you identify goals which can be formed in subtle and creative ways. I can also coach you if you have formulated definite plans but would like another person who can be trusted to offer different perspectives and track progression.

Life presents us with limitless possibilities and as humans we have innate abilities to transcend and/or learn from challenges. I have found that success often builds upon itself when backed by optimism and knowledgeable action.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
