About me

JV Psychology Services Ltd. offers assessments for Autism and ADHD for children, young people and adults. Our assessments follow National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) Guidelines.  Two specialist HCPC-registered healthcare professionals from different professional backgrounds (e.g., Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist) will complete be involved in completing the assessments.

Are you currently struggling with ongoing stresses, anxiety, low mood / depression or any other difficulty that life has presented you with? Would you like to speak to someone independent, offering a non-judgemental, compassionate and professional service? Are you interested in therapy tailored personally to you, your goals and your current life situation?

Please be assured that you are not alone in this endeavour. I believe that life has the ability to be filled with appreciation, love / care and acceptance. I also understand that life will be extremely difficult and we sadly all experience loss, grief, rejection and disappointment throughout our lives. At these times, I have personally benefited from support from others, both in my personal life and with support in therapy sessions. As such, I take great honour in being able to support others to navigate through some of their most difficult times and hopefully see them experience beginning to reconnect with the life they value.

My Experience

I have worked with a wide-range of emotional and life-situation difficulties, providing highly specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs. I have helped people in managing their experiences of anxiety (e.g., social anxiety, generalised anxiety, panic, obsessive compulsive disorder, health anxiety), anger, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), physical health (e.g., pain, chronic illness, weight management) and neurological conditions (e.g., traumatic brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s), relationship difficulties, stress and managing life transitions, self-esteem and sleep difficulties. I have also supported people with enduring mental health difficulties (e.g., psychosis, bipolar, and personality complexities).

My Approaches

My training and qualification as a Clinical Psychologist in 2011 has enabled me to specialise in a number of therapeutic approaches. Every person, life situation and their values/goals are different, and so tailoring the therapy sessions to 'best fit' each person is imperative to ensure the therapy is as helpful to the person as possible. Amongst others, the therapeutic models I specialise in include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Rehabilitation and Systemic Approaches.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist having qualified in 2011 (with another 5 years' experience prior to becoming qualified). I have experience in consultation, supervision and teaching / training. I am Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered and a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) clearance. I completed my undergraduate psychology degree at The University of Sheffield and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The University of Manchester. I have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology at The University of Glasgow. I am currently completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Autism and Other Neurodevelopmental Conditions at NSPC / Middlesex University.
