About me

Hello, my name is Justin and I would describe myself as a warm, empathetic and welcoming individual, with a passion for helping and guiding individuals with where they’re currently at within life.

I am a strong believer that each person is unique and just like the lotus flower we all possess the ability to grow and heal, despite our deepest and most difficult experiences. I’d be honoured to journey with you through the struggles that you’re experiencing and will work with you at your own pace. A lot of the work I do is based around helping individuals in becoming more emotionally aware; identifying, processing and responding to their emotions.

Furthermore, I believe that each person is unique, therefore, as an integrative counsellor, an array of approaches will be used, dependent on your needs. I provide an empathetic, friendly and nonjudgmental space, to explore and better understand your thoughts and feelings.

Here’s a little bit about me; I have a first class BA Honours Degree in Integrative Counselling (Theory and Practice) and am a registered member of the BACP.

As well as working with adults, I have experience also working with adolescents (within a secondary school setting, aged from 11-17), addressing a variety of issues such as communication, depression, low self-esteem, self-harm, panic attacks, stress, anxiety and helping individuals to understand their emotions (whether blocked or suppressed).

In addition to talking therapies, I also have experience and training in creative interventions such as using; drawings, gestalt, pictures, fairytales, figurines, sand tray and role-plays, which is useful as an alternative method for gaining insight. I regularly undergo training to ensure I am able to provide the best and most up to date practice.

I believe that counselling within the right environment can facilitate positive change. From personal experience I have seen how counselling can help gain greater self-awareness, to become more empowered and to build the confidence we need to make the necessary changes, in order to better our life and relationships with others.

So if you feel this is something you would like to explore, or you have any questions, then please drop me an email and we can arrange a free initial assessment, discuss our working together, and give you a glimpse as to whether counselling is something you would like to embark on with me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

- Accessing and processing emotions using Emotional Therapeutic Counselling (ETC):

ETC is a person-centred talking and creative therapy to help clients experiencing distress in their lives. The distresses’ (or emotional blocks) can take the form of many emotions:

Anger
Sadness
Resentment
Fear
Anxiety
Loss
Lack of self-esteem
Lack of confidence
Guilt
Shame
Aggression.

These emotional responses can be brought on by a life changing event, relationship or family issues, ongoing sadness or low mood, work related issues or deep seated unresolved issues. ETC process aids the expression of feelings and thoughts and creatively allows the you (the client) to understand your true feelings in a trusting and empathetic environment.
