About me

What can I offer you?

As a qualified counsellor, I offer a place where you can share the things that you’re struggling with at the moment, where you'll be really heard and where you can feel at ease to be your true self.

Talking about your problems can help you find ways to manage what’s going on for you right now and help you to feel better.  It gives you the chance to explore your feelings, understand yourself more and overcome difficulties.

I offer tailored therapy which is as individual as you are and my focus will always be on you and your needs and your wants in each session.

What might you bring to counselling?

My current clients bring a range of things including anxiety and depression, relationship issues, abuse, past trauma, bereavement and low self-esteem/self-worth.  Many don’t feel happy within themselves and want to make changes or maybe find a way to cope with something they can’t change.

How do I work?

I am what’s called a Humanistic Person-Centred Counsellor. What that actually means is that I am here to listen to you, I won’t judge anything you say, I will put myself in your shoes and I will reflect your feelings and thoughts in an open and honest way.

We can explore what’s happening for you in your life, the relationships you have with people around you and we might talk about past events that have been difficult.  Talking about these things should lead to increased self-awareness, which often leads to change, and through this, I hope we can work together to help you find a way forward.

I like to be totally open and honest and integrate myself into my client work. I am creative and I offer clients the opportunity to work with resources, such as pens, sand trays and objects, that help them express their feelings.

Coaching

I am also a professional coach-mentor and this suits some clients as I can integrate coaching approaches into our sessions.  This might take the form of goal-focused problem-solving and collaborative exploration which helps with self-discovery and empowerment.  Many clients find this particularly valuable as their therapeutic work completes and they want to look to the future.

Our relationship

Building a successful therapeutic relationship between us is essential in creating the best environment for us to work together.  I offer an initial free, no obligation consultation (usually lasting 30 minutes) so that we can talk about why you’ve come for counselling.

We can get to know each other and discuss how I might be able to help you and I hope that will be the start of building a trusted relationship where you feel free to talk openly and really be your true self.

Where I work

I support clients in the Salisbury and Winchester areas, plus online

I work from my home in a dedicated space that has been converted into great place to host my clients.  It’s quiet and secure and there is enough room for us to work creatively, if that is what appeals to you.

I live in a small village, Idmiston, 5 miles north-east of Salisbury and I am just 15 minutes from the A303.  There’s plenty of space on the drive to park.

I do have an option to work in Winchester, if that is closer for you – we can talk about that if it’s of interest.  I can also work online if you can’t make it in person or even the phone if that’s what you need.

The counselling journey

Most clients come for an ‘hour’ (the counselling hour is 50 mins) each week and some reduce to fortnightly or monthly sessions as their counselling journey comes to an end.

I offer counselling on an open-ended basis – there is no time limit.  Each client is unique and needs their own time to process their changes.

Couples

I offer Couple therapy, also known as Couples Counselling.  This is a therapeutic process that helps partners in a romantic relationship resolve conflicts, improve communication, and strengthen their bond. I will facilitate discussion between you both, help you to identify patterns, and work with you both to enhance your emotional connection and solve issues.

Couple work still lasts for 50 minutes per week and is priced at £75 per session.  I also offer a longer initial consultation (up to 1 hour) for which is priced at £25.

What next?

Please call me (07859 936518) or email me (julia@hannoblue.com) and we can arrange an initial consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Qualifications

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am an accredited Senior Practitioner Coach, holding a Diploma in Professional Coach-Mentoring and I am a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).

I am committed to regular continuous professional development, both as a coach and a counsellor.  Further training includes topics such as: suicide and self harm, working with trauma and shame, sexual abuse, mental health and the body and couples therapy.

Work and Life Experiences

For 35 years I worked in technology and change management in financial services organisations, but I decided that I needed a life change in 2015 following a family bereavement.

I saw the power of counselling and decided to re-train as a counsellor and, using my existing coaching qualifications and experience, in 2020 I founded a small business offering coaching and counselling services.  I also work and volunteer at a local counselling charity in Winchester and as a volunteer professional coach-mentor for young women.

My life experiences include relationship issues and endings, bereavement and loss and my own stress and anxiety.  I believe that these help me to understand my clients better who have similar issues and offer empathy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
