About me

Whether you’ve had counselling before or are considering it for the first time, finding the right therapist for you can feel like a daunting task. My aim is to help clients navigate that process and then to provide a nurturing and secure space for clients that want to take things forward with sessions that might take place in person or online. Individual needs can vary widely and establishing a secure relationship where clients feel able to open up and explore their feelings, in a non-judgemental and supportive environment is key to the way that I work.

The integrative approach that I use blends concepts and practices from well-established and highly trusted humanistic and psychodynamic modalities. In our sessions, we may use reflective exercises, goal-setting discussions, or guided self-exploration to help you better understand your thoughts and feelings.

I work with individuals over the age of 18 years across a wide range of areas including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship, work and inter-personal issues, bereavement and loss.

The next step would be a free of charge, introductory phone call or Zoom to explore your needs and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable and would like to have an initial session. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a free introductory call, please email me or book directly—I'm here to help you get started whenever you feel ready.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified, BACP-registered counsellor working with clients in person and online.

I am a psychology graduate and spent 20 years working in communications and client services before returning to my passion for human thinking, feelings and behaviours in a more one to one relational capacity.

I have a diploma in Integrative Counselling and am a certified online counsellor. I have undertaken additional training in using creative techniques to help clients access and express sometimes hidden and harder to reach feelings and experiences and techniques to aid in the resolution of interpersonal conflicts and unfinished business. I am currently undertaking additional specialist training to help clients affected by eating disorders.

I have worked with a wide range of clients experiencing a broad spectrum of emotional difficulties and challenging situations including anxiety, loss, trauma, self confidence, work related challenges, family and inter-relational problems.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
