About me

Hello and welcome to my profile.

It takes courage to acknowledge we are struggling with our thoughts and feelings, maybe to be at a point where we don't even understand or recognize ourselves at the moment.

Life can be hard and challenging for many reasons,  relationship difficulties, a bereavement or pre-bereavement, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, family conflict or parenting stress, an eating disorder, low self-esteem or loneliness, social anxiety or work stress. Counselling covers many aspects of life and can prove helpful in times of uncertainty and change.

I provide a welcoming, safe and confidential space where together we can look at what's happening in your life and how it is impacting on you, in a supportive atmosphere of calm and respect for who you are now and who you want to be.

Just talking through our worries with a fresh listening ear can be so helpful, it lightens the load and brings a sense of relief.  Together we can start to unravel your thoughts and feelings about your situation, the negative impact of the past and how to come to terms with it, understanding the present and gaining more control of it, and by having a new perspective and insight into your situation enables you to see the changes you want to make towards a more positive and hopeful future.

I believe you already hold many of the answers to your problems and I will support you to uncover them and understand yourself better by finding those answers.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor which means I am trained in different approaches of counselling, such as Person-Centred, CBT and Psychodynamic, which enables me to tailor my support to each individual person.

Person-Centred counselling works with the values of empathy for the person, being honest and genuine with a person, and of respect and non-judgemental listening to whatever a person may bring to counselling.

Simply put CBT helps us to understand how our thoughts and feelings influence our behaviour, recognizes patterns in behaviour, and offers insight into alternative perspectives and ways of being.

Psychodynamic therapy looks at how the past has influenced our values and beliefs, and shapes the person we are today.

I am based in Eccleshall, Staffordshire, in easy reach of Newport, Telford, Stafford, Stone, Market Drayton and Stoke. Registered with the BACP and work to their ethical framework to provide a high standard of professional care.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
