About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor offering a range of approaches to best suit the needs of each individual client. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and this is noticeable in my experience which covers an age range from 6 to beyond retirement. I support clients with issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, loss, bereavement, low self-confidence, low self-esteem, family issues, relationship issues, work-related issues. My clients are from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations.

I specialise in Bereavement (working with bereaved children, young persons and adults) and also in working with children generally (mainly in schools) where I use play materials to help my young clients express feelings they may otherwise find difficult to put into words.

In life, we can sometimes find ourselves feeling unsettled, dissatisfied, stuck. We may not understand the reason for feeling the way we do i.e. what is holding us back or preventing us from reaching our potential? Seeking help from a qualified therapist is a good start but for some, the idea of sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings with a complete stranger can seem quite daunting. Finding a Counsellor who is a good fit for you is crucial.

I am a Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by their code of practice. I am interested in who you are as a person and what you have to say. Your views and opinions matter and are important. My aim is for us to build a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty and mutual respect. I can offer you a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space where we can work together to explore issues that are causing you difficulty. You decide what and how much you wish to share with me. I will follow your lead and go with you at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Our life experiences help shape who we are today. We cannot change the past but with help, we can question our thought processes and let go of disruptive patterns of behaviour which perhaps began in our earlier lives. Improving our overall emotional and physical wellbeing starts with talking about our issues.

I am able to offer telephone, online or face-to-face counselling and sessions can be either short-term, i.e. 6-8 sessions or longer term.

So, how do we get started?

Please feel free to email or call me to arrange an initial telephone call where we can discuss in more detail what I can offer you. We can then book an Assessment which will in fact be our first session. I will listen to your story and ask a few questions to help give me some indication of where and how you see yourself at the present time.

If, at the end of our Assessment session, you feel I am not a good fit for you then there is no obligation to continue. It is of the utmost importance that you feel comfortable in order to get the most from your counselling experience.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
