About me

Hello, my name is Jodie. I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working within the NHS, private and charity sectors.  Working in a number of different services and teams has meant that I have a lot of experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, psychosis and interpersonal difficulties. I currently work in a specialist trauma service for families experiencing trauma and fear related to pregnancy and childbirth.

I specialise in work with adults and young people and really work hard to ensure each of my clients is offered thoughtful and individualised care. Life can be hard and I believe that everyone could benefit from therapy at a number of points in their life, not just at the point of mental health crisis.

People often come to see me at a time of change, life transition or when there might be a difficult decision to be made in their lives. Alternatively, people might reach out when feeling stuck.

I work with a range of individuals, families and couple across the lifespan. I really enjoy working with teenagers and young people but also adults more generally. My approach is eclectic so I don't have a particular type of client. I think I work well with clients looking for flexibility because they have a busy schedule or a lot of life demands. I also know that for some people, the consistency of a regular therapy time is the most important thing so can offer this too.

I have been described as a warm and compassionate psychologist. I appreciate that therapy can be a daunting process so I offer a free 15 minute consultation to say hi and check whether I am the right fit for you. I have a particular interest in pregnancy, the transition to parenthood and parental mental health due to my own experiences of becoming a mother.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a psychologist, I am trained in a number of therapeutic models and focus on helping those I work with to reach their potential or move forward when change is needed. I believe therapy should be flexible to fit into our lives and therefore can offer sessions remotely via video call or face to face at a lovely yoga studio.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Further information

I think there are advantages and disadvantages to face to face therapy vs. online sessions.

I think it is important to offer both. Sometimes, the most effective approach is to offer a blend of face to face and online sessions.

Get in touch and I am very happy to discuss options which might fit with your hopes for therapy.
