About Me
I am an experienced and compassionate Therapist & DBT Practitioner and specialise in working with Personality Disorder, ADHD, Autism and Complex Trauma. There are a great many cross overs in the presentation of these complex presentations and therefore I focus on offering therapy that targets the symptoms of emotional hypersensitivity and neurodiversity moreover the diagnosis per se.
I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and am a member of the Society for DBT (SfDBT).
How I work
I offer DBT informed psychotherapy on an individual basis as well as a fully adherent DBT service that includes a group component.
Individual psychotherapy involves traditional talking therapy, exploring why an individual may think, feel and behave the way they do in order to promote insight and change. I integrate a lot of practical skills to support resilience in the immediate term.
Fully adherent DBT is suited to individuals who present with significant risk factors such as suicidality, self harm, and addictions, and dysfunctional relationships. This is an intensive and specialist service.
I also offer services for family and friends of those who struggle with severe and enduring mental health problems by means of coaching.
Clinical Supervision
I am a qualified Clinical supervisor, so if you are a trainee or experienced therapist looking for a supervisor please see my supervision profile for more information. I also offer supervision for health and social care organisations.
Training, qualifications & experience
My formal Qualifications include:
- Master of Science (Msc) in Integrative Psychotherapy
- Post Grad Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy
- BA (Hons) Creative Expressive Therapies
- Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Diploma in Clinical Supervision (Dip Sup)
- Level 4 Accredited DBT Practitioner
I have a high level of training and am passionate about my commitment to the profession of Psychotherapy. I undertake regular supervision as well as supervise the work of others.
My Experience
I've worked therapeutically in many settings, including:
NHS Forensic Mental Health services
International aid projects (AusAid, Veterans International, UNICEF)
Voluntary sector projects (New Dawn New Day Ltd)
Higher education (University of Leicester)
Private practice
As such, I have a wealth of experience working with clients who present with various issues.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
