About me

Hello and welcome

It’s not always easy to realise something isn’t right and perhaps you may need some help from someone outside your immediate family and friends. I know from my own personal therapy the positive results that can come from knowing more about yourself and how your past shapes your present.

My practice is rooted in person-centred therapy – based on the premise that you are the expert in your life and can make change happen. My role is to help you get to know yourself better, what your triggers are with a view to increasing self-acceptance and becoming your best self,  enjoying life to the fullest. Therapy isn’t like waving a magic wand – it takes time, but if you are prepared to be open and curious it can be a challenging yet rewarding experience.

What kind of therapist am I?

As an integrative therapist,  I tailor my approach to you and your needs and preferences, drawing from many different techniques.  We go totally at your pace getting to know and trust one another in a totally safe and non-judgemental space. We are complex and unique beings so what’s right for one person may not be right for you. In our first session, we talk about what’s brought you to therapy and what you want to get out of it. These goals may change as we work together, and we will review progress regularly together and adapt accordingly.

Counselling can help with a multitude of problems. You may have experienced a recent loss – perhaps a bereavement or major life change like a job loss. It could be that you’ve always felt low and depressed, but not really understood why. Perhaps you find relationships with others challenging and want to explore this with someone independently. You may struggle with anxiety in your day to day life. I can help both emotionally and practically.  This may involve exploring past experiences which may be influencing your feelings in the present, and in parallel I can offer a number of practical coping strategies to manage and contain anxious thoughts through tapping, meditation and breathing work, to name a few, as well as working with you to identify what your triggers are before they become overwhelming. Ultimately my focus is to work with you, to foster a mutual level of trust and provide a safe and facilitative space for your exploration and growth.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy acquired at the University of East London. I have been seeing clients since June 2022 both privately and previously at both Mind in Haringey and Mind in Enfield and Barnet.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I can see clients outside of regular working hours to suit you including evenings and weekends. I offer online via Zoom or telephone sessions but I can also offer face to face if desired, although due to room hire this comes at the higher end of my pay rate scale. I charge an initial introductory fee which is higher as it's a longer session where I need to find out more about you and your goals for therapy and if we agree to work together, my fees start at £50 and I require payment in advance with a 24 hour cancellation policy - 36 hours if working face to face to allow me enough time to cancel the room.

I also offer block sessions of 10 for £400 with 50% paid upfront.

I am currently seeing clients only evenings and weekends.

Further information

I am currently working online, face to face and via telephone.  I offer an initial consultancy session, which is a slightly longer duration, where I will ask you to give me some general background and why you've chosen to start therapy now and what your main problems are. Then if I believe that I am the right person to help you we can start sessions or I can signpost you to someone more suitable.

Client Testimonial

"I sought help late in life, when a number of events seemed to be getting the better of me. Happily, I found Jenny. She helped me so much. I will forever remember her skill and kindness, her wit and wisdom, and her sympathy and understanding."
