About me

Hello and welcome to my page. I'm Jenna, a qualified counsellor here to offer you support during challenging times.

Deciding to reach out for support can be daunting. Whether you're new to therapy or have previous experience, I'm here to collaborate with you at a pace that feels right.

I tailor my approach to your unique needs, which we can determine through open discussion and mutual agreement. As an integrative counsellor, I draw from various methodologies, including the person-centred approach, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and Transactional Analysis.

Additionally, for clients interested in practical skills alongside traditional therapy, I incorporate some elements of dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) to support them in their daily lives

My experience

I have experience working with both adults and young people, supporting clients through a range of challenges including depression, stress, anxiety, low self-esteem or low self-confidence, loss, relationship and social difficulties, neurodiversity such as Autism and ADHD (diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or questioning), suicidal thoughts, trauma, disability, misdiagnosis, medical trauma, intrusive thoughts, abuse, and neglect.

Moreover, I am committed to fostering an LGBTQ+ friendly environment and strive to create a space that is neuro-affirming and gender-affirming.

What is a neuro-affirming practice? I aim to support clients in recognising and embracing their neuro-type rather than pathologising differences in neurology. My approach supports client-led discovery, self-growth, acceptence and increased self-esteem.

What will my first session look like?

In your initial session with me, my main priority is to begin to build a strong foundation of trust and mutual understanding.

The first session typically involves a brief and informal assessment to ensure that I can offer you the support you need, as well as gather basic details to meet safeguarding requirements.

During this time, I may pose open-ended questions to encourage you to share your reasons for seeking counselling and any goals you may have in mind. Ultimately, my goal for our first session is to foster a supportive and collaborative environment where you can feel comfortable with starting your therapeutic experience.

Client testimonial - March 2024

''Jenna is fantastic! It is such a pleasure to talk with someone who has such a deep understanding of disability. She listens with huge empathy and makes helpful connections between different things I express during our sessions. She generously shares her expertise, is very reflective and compassionate in her practice, and consistently ensures my needs and goals in therapy are met.''

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
