About me

Life can be challenging and even painful at times, and it isn’t always easy to discuss what we are going through with those in our inner circle, so we can be left feeling stuck and alone.

Counselling offers a safe and confidential space where you can speak freely without the fear of judgment, and where you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, the world around you, and you can explore ways in which you can begin to lead a happier and more fulfilling life.

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor offering both short and long term therapy. I work integratively, which means I draw on the knowledge of more than one approach, to ensure that the therapy I offer is flexible and tailor-made for each of my clients; respecting the uniqueness of every individual. The modalities I use are Person-centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the very heart of the work we will do together, and I have a proven ability to connect with my clients in a way that makes them feel safe and comfortable, whilst still providing an environment where personal growth is facilitated.

Training, qualifications & experience

Advanced Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and BA (Health Sciences and and Social Services) with specialisation in Psychological Counselling.

In addition to practicing privately, I have also been a counsellor at Rushden Mind and Northamptonshire Rape Crisis, and in a previous role with West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC), was privileged to be able to provide trauma informed support to many adult survivors of child sexual abuse during their engagement with a major government inquiry.

I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which means that I abide and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an accredited member of The National Counselling Society (NCS).

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
