About me

I am a qualified Counsellor, my style is Person Centred, and I am studying to become a CBT qualifeid Counsellor, in June 2024.  I have been seeing clients for over 5 years now. I worked as an administrator in a Psycholigical setting for 20 years of working in a Psychological setting, where I developed my interest in counselling, and gained a lot of knowledge, dealing with clients in distress on the phone, or if they called into the office, to talk with someone.

I offer a safe place to discuss your councerns or worries, you need to ensure that you have a safe place to talk, where no one hear or sea you, so that you are free to talk with interuptions.

I am 68 years young, and have a wealth of life experiences, dealing with poverty, divorce, anxiety, seperation, dealing with three sons in East London, and diversity,  I also have a "blended family".  I offer counselling to adults 18 and over, and have experience in most aspects of life. I offer a non judgemental and safe place to explore your concerns; I do not advise, but by reflecting and discussing your issues we can come to a conclusion to help you achieve better mental health.

I also have a very naught cat, her name is Waggie, and she will make her prescence known at some point in our sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I work with clients on line, or by telephone, this saves on travel expenses and time spent on your sessions.

Session are 50 to 60 minutes, and held in the comfort of your own home, or in a safe place for you, i.e. in your car (but not driving) when you are out walking, if you are unable to use your home.

I am trained as Person Centred Counsellor, which means the sessions are about you, and whatever your want to bring into the room, I do not judge and all sessions are confidential.  I am also in training to work as a CBT Counsellor, and this finishes in June 2024, it is exciting, as we can combine the styles together, to ensure a better outcome for yourself, and to become your own therapist at the end of the sessions, they are on your terms.
