About me

Do you put on a brave face but feel different on the inside? Perhaps you’re empty and numb, or overwhelmed by emotions? Are you finding it hard to cope day-to-day? I know how tough life can be at times and how lonely it feels when no one seems to understand.

If you’re wondering when you’ll feel happy or hopeful again, or you’re worrying about the future and fearing the worst, or maybe you’re struggling with a big change and a sense of who you are; I’d like to help. Being able to talk freely to someone, without fear of judgement or shame, can be a huge relief.

How can I help?

I support adults affected by low self esteem, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues, often those who have experienced the death of a loved one, a major life transition or trauma, or childhood sexual abuse.

Our work together can help ease your pain, and support you to feel calmer, to cope more easily, and to feel better about yourself. We will go at your pace and, whatever comes up, we can try and make sense of it together. I am passionate about reducing distress, healing from trauma, and helping you believe it's ok to be you.

Next step...

I work on a one-to-one basis from my therapy room in central Exeter and online. I offer a free initial call or meeting, giving us a chance to get to know each other a little before you commit to anything. It’s important you choose a counsellor you feel comfortable with.

Drop me an email and we can arrange a time to have an informal chat. I look forward to hearing from you. Take care.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling from The Iron Mill College in Exeter and broad experience volunteering at The Margaret Jackson Centre.

I draw upon my lived experience and ongoing specialist training to help me support people struggling with the legacy of trauma, childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, bereavement or complex grief.

I regularly work with university students and have a good understanding of the unique life challenges they navigate, such as academic performance, friendship groups, and planning for the future.

Most of my clients feel calmer and clearer, regain a sense of stability and happiness, and find a way to get their lives back on track.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
