About me
Hello and welcome! My name is Jane, and I'm a registered counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have been fortunate to gain over ten years of professional experience in this field.
Throughout my career, I’ve been able to support clients who are navigating a range of challenges, including stress and anxiety, relationship issues, motivation, self-esteem, self-confidence, depression, and other related issues.
I am passionate about making a positive difference to people and their lives. I believe in valuing each person for their unique qualities and treating everyone with respect. My approach is centred around cultivating compassionate understanding.
I am interested in the idea of hiding our true selves behind masks in our everyday lives, and how this tendency can extend to our closest and most intimate relationships. I am here to help people in cultivating a deeper connection with their authentic selves, empowering them to trust and rely on their own inner guidance.
Gaining a deeper understanding of yourself can gently influence your perspective and cultivate a sense of freedom. It may help you feel more empowered, offering the motivation and confidence to pursue the positive changes you desire.
I am here to support you with a compassionate approach as you explore your feelings and any challenges you may be experiencing. Together, we can work toward understanding what might help you feel better and identify any changes that could be beneficial.
I recognise that asking for help takes enormous courage and inner strength at any stage of life. Starting therapy is a significant step, so I encourage you to take a moment to feel proud of yourself!

Additionally, I integrate somatic EMDR interventions to enrich the support and promote personal growth.
This understanding recognises and adapts to individual needs and circumstances. By working in this way, the therapeutic relationship offers a secure base on which the client's self-awareness can evolve.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As children, we prioritise our attachment to our caregivers over our feelings and authentic selves in an attempt to protect and defend ourselves so that we can feel safe and survive. We learn early on which feelings to avoid and fear because they’re unacceptable in our environment, and we manage our feelings as best we can through the eyes of a child. We try to make sense, creating beliefs about ourselves as we identify with the feeling and felt experience.
The therapeutic space that is provided needs to feel safe, with a connection to another who is non-judgemental and compassionate. Being deeply seen and feeling held safely and emotionally enables you to be vulnerable and open. You have the answers within you, and the counselling process is like holding up a mirror so you can see yourself more clearly. It is in and through the experience itself that expands your awareness, compassion, and understanding. Self-awareness is a crucial seed for individual growth; you cannot change what you are not aware of.
We are adaptable and capable of relating and responding differently. As adults, we have the ability to take charge and to find new ways of expressing ourselves with greater understanding. We can also work on calming our nervous systems, which can help us develop healthier habits and reduce the need to act out our emotions. By approaching ourselves with curiosity and compassion, we can gain insight into how our beliefs may have developed, especially during times when we felt overwhelmed or frightened as children.
Cultivating self-compassion can help in reconnecting with yourself and gaining a deeper understanding of who you are. It may help you feel empowered and encourage you to look within to find solutions. The journey of self-discovery is seldom straightforward, can often take time and be influenced by a variety of life situations and needs. Depending on where you are in life and what’s going on at the time.
Would you consider whether you’re ready to find a sense of peace or explore the possibility of making a positive change? Do you think that counselling might be beneficial for you at this time? Do you feel prepared to take a meaningful step forward and engage in the process? Are you open to the idea of stepping outside your comfort zone and perhaps exploring your inner world? Can you create a gentle space for awareness, compassion, and understanding to unfold?
Awareness helps us see more clearly the truth about ourselves, which can lead to more freedom in our lives. The truth can help you feel better, even though it may be painful to face at times. It gently starts with being kind to yourself and your own suffering. Healing occurs when your mind and body work together. Are you ready to begin?
