About me

Hi, my name is Ines Olivares.

I am a BACP Accredited Psychodynamic therapist with a background in Psychology and primary care interventions.

If you are experiencing anxiety symptoms and you are finding it hard to deal with life stressors; if you are feeling down and you are struggling to find motivation to do things; if you are in the middle of a conflict in a relationship and you don't know how to communicate your needs or what your needs are; if you've lost someone, or you are experiencing a transition in your life; if you notice there is a negative pattern going on, and you want to understand why and achieve a positive change. If you relate to any of the above statements, I am here to help.

There may be things in your unconscious mind that you are not fully aware of and are painful or keeping you stuck. I will help you look within, process and understand your emotional experience. We will aim to find what is keeping you stuck and we will dive deep in, to be able to gently move in a new direction.

I fundamentally use Psychodynamic therapy in my practice, which focuses on unpacking the conscious and unconscious mental processes that influence who we are in relation to ourselves, others, and the world. In other words, this type of therapy is aimed to help people develop self-awareness and understanding of the dynamic influence of our personal experiences on our behaviours, attitudes, and emotions in the present. By achieving this level understanding through reflection, people can become more attuned with their feelings, recognise how these affect their behaviour and relationships, and gain mastery of their life. I will invite you to feel heard and to take part in a healing process that will allow you to get insight into both your difficulties and your strengths.

My individual approach is based on what I believe is the core part of any therapy: building an accepting and trusting relationship between therapist and client in a calm and non judgemental safe space. I will encourage you to talk freely about whatever comes to mind, there is no right or wrong thing to say.

I have experience working with other theoretical models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Humanistic or Gestalt techniques. In this sense, I see the value in integrating concepts from different therapeutic models and being flexible to provide the care that each individual client might need.

Training, qualifications & experience

- Bachelor in Psychology 2009 - 2013

- Master of Science in Health Psychology 2014 - 2015

- Master of Arts in Psychodynamic Counselling 2016 - 2019

- Registered Member MBACP (Accred)

This journey began in 2009, the year when I started my bachelor’s in psychology in Bilbao (Spain). My passion for psychology only got bigger with time, and I continued my training by completing a master’s degree in Health Psychology, in which I learned primary health care psychological interventions based on different therapy modalities.

Curiosity led me further, and I moved to London in 2015 to continue my training and professional experience. I did a masters in Psychodynamic Counselling that allowed me to connect with theories and practices that fit with my personality and values, and with the belief that it is important to get to the root of a difficulty to create long-lasting change.

I have over 10 years of experience working in mental health settings, and I have been an individual psychotherapist for the last 5 years working both in the NHS and in Priory Group Wellbeing services. I founded Navigate Wellbeing in July 2022 to continue my journey in helping others to navigate their own emotional difficulties so that they can achieve balance and wellbeing in all areas of their lives.

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) acknowledges my practice has met their higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner by granting me the Accredited membership. It recognises the achievement of high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapy.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I offer a 15-minute initial consultation for free, where I would love to hear what is bringing you to therapy and you can ask as many questions as you wish. That way, we can both assess whether we are a good match, and decide if we can work together by the end of the video call.

Finding a therapist can be a difficult part of the process. If you are looking for one, that’s already a sign that you are willing to give this a go and commit to the work.

It has probably taken you some time to get to this point, but now you feel ready. That’s a great start. Now, how can you know if a therapist is the right fit for you? It is one of those situations in which you have to try and see if there is a connection between you and your therapist.

It is believed that the therapeutic relationship that is built between therapist and client is one of the most important aspects of positive change and success in therapy.
