About me

Taking care of one's mental health is a basic necessity. I have discovered that creating a balanced and happy life stems from adequately caring for our mental health. Stress and struggles of life can be overwhelming. However, having a trustworthy person who can provide a safe space where emotions can be expressed freely without fearing being judged can equip a client to thrive amidst the stresses of life. I chose counselling, to be that trustworthy professional that provides that safe space where someone can talk about issues that overwhelm them in their life.

I have a degree in Psychology and a Master's in Counselling and Positive Psychology. I am an integrative therapist because I use person-centred and positive psychology approaches. I tailor my sessions to meet the needs of my clients.

Furthermore, I work with my clients to process their unresolved emotions by creating an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I look beyond what is wrong with my client and help them discover what is good with them. This process enables the utilization of strengths to develop a positive image of self,  hope, optimism and resilience. I also practice mindfulness exercises during the sessions.

Moreover, I have worked with clients that present various issues such as sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, self-harm, ADHD, late diagnosis of autism, anxiety due to children’s health conditions, adverse childhood traumatic experience, depression due to terminal illness, trauma due to arranged marriage, autism, social anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, suicidal attempts, history of drug use, addiction to pornography and troubled relationships with parents.

Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. Nonetheless, I am here to support you in that process.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Forced marriage, anxiety triggered by religious, Cultural or ethnic beliefs and orientation.

Further information

I build a professional relationship and rapport with my clients. People might have the same diagnosis but the experiences are different and peculiar to each client. Therefore I meet my clients in their point of need. I recognise the personal frame of reference and work with each client to explore and resolve, those unresolved emotions and feelings. I not only look for what is wrong with my clients, I also look for what is right with them. I help my clients discover there strength and find ways to focus and develop those strengths.
