About me

I am an experienced and warm BACP accredited psychodynamic counsellor and care deeply about what I do.  You may be depressed, anxious, stressed, angry or have relationship problems or work-related difficulties. I will listen to you with empathy and without judgement so that can I see your world through your eyes and so that you feel heard.  If your thoughts and feelings are confusing, conflicted or unclear,  I will work with you collaboratively to unravel and make sense of them.

I approach therapy with hope and optimism and will work alongside you to explore and understand the roots of your difficulties so that you can gain new perspectives on them.  A greater understanding of yourself can give you the freedom and autonomy to make positive and lasting changes in your life.

I work on a one-to-one basis with adults aged 18 years and above.

Sessions can be open-ended or time-limited and can be held face to face, online or over the telephone.

It is important that you trust your gut when deciding which therapist to choose. This is why I offer a free initial consultation so that you can experience how it might feel to work with me.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have completed a rigorous five-year BACP accredited training and hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by its Code of Ethics and professional standards.

I have many years prior experience working for the charity Family Lives, where I supported individuals struggling with different aspects of parenting and family life.

As well as running my private practice, I am also a tutor for an accredited counselling course.

Whilst I have worked with people from different walks of life and backgrounds and with a wide range of issues, I treat each client as an individual whose unique experience is more important than the symptom.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
