About me

The decision to see a counsellor is not an easy one and can feel overwhelming when you are already trying to cope with something difficult in your life. Counselling can be a positive first step to moving forwards, it can help during those times when you feel alone because no one else in your life really 'gets it' or you are concerned that what is troubling you might be too much for those people in your life you would normally turn to for help.

I see counselling as a collaborative process in which we work together to find a better way for you to cope with whatever is troubling you. I aim to see the world through your eyes in order to understand what you are struggling with, and accompany you on your journey to a place where you can find self acceptance, reconnect with your inner strengths or find personal resolution.

About Me

I am a fully qualified counsellor and am registered with BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I work as a Person Centred counsellor, which means that I don't offer a magic wand or specific techniques to cure you of your problem, but a space to talk things through feeling supported, validated and hopefully empowered to find your way forwards.

I work by offering counselling sessions either online, by telephone or face to face so that I can meet an individual's specific needs and provide an inclusive service.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP registered practitioner. As such, I work within a strict ethical code. I am required to complete ongoing CPD every year to retain my registered status.

Certificate in Telephone and Online Counselling  - Counselling Tutor

Post Graduate Diploma in Person Centred Counselling (BACP Accredited Course) - University of Strathclyde

PCT Certificate in Person Centred Supervision

I have worked in many different settings as a counsellor including; a student counsellor at the University of St. Andrews and the University of Glasgow, as a staff counsellor for NHS Fife, Fife Council and for EAP's. I have also worked in the voluntary sector as well as working in private practice.

I currently combine my private practice with my role as a counselling tutor at Warwickshire College Group on the L2, L3, L4 and L5 CPCAB qualifications

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
