About me

I support people in finding hope for the future, rather than living in the past.

Sometimes it can feel as though we play the role of the happy version of ourselves, rather than living it, while in reality we can actually feel isolated and alone.  You might be experiencing overwhelming feelings such as anxiety, depression, grief, stress and/or be dealing with the impact of traumatic events.  It might be that how you have dealt with these feelings before is no longer working and they are starting to affect your day to day life.  You are not alone.  We can work towards an understanding of these feelings and the things that contribute to them, helping you towards a greater sense of self-compassion, contentment and feelings of being more in control.

If you, or your child, are finding things overwhelming, having a safe space to talk can help you to explore and give you a greater understanding of what's happening.  I provide a safe,  confidential and non-judgmental space for you to make sense of what feels challenging and work through it. This can help you have a better understanding of your needs and how to meet them, work through past experiences and feel more in control of your future.

I work with a number of people who are on the autistic spectrum.  I am happy to adapt the space and how we appraoch counselling to cater for any neurodivergent needs.

How I work

I work in a person-centred way, to listen without judgement, recognising you as the person who knows yourself best and helping you to know yourself better.  I will provide the support to help you to find the way forward that is right for you.

Who I work with

I work on a one-to-one basis with adults and also children and young people from the age of 11, a number of whom live with autism, offering face-to-face, online and telephone counselling.  My face-to-face work is Covid-19 risk assessed and I am happy to talk to you about what measures I put in place to minimise risk.

My availability

I offer daytime and evening appointments and a free, 30-minute initial meeting so that you can meet me and decide if you would like us to work together, with no obligation to have any further sessions.

My current availability is: Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings.

I am based in Olney, which is accessible by car from locations such as Northampton, Bedford and Milton Keynes

If you would like to contact me to arrange a free 30-minute session and see how we might work together, I can be reached by phone call, text or email, or you can find out more on my website.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
