About me

Hi, my name's Hannah and I'm a fully qualified counsellor. I offer counselling in Canterbury, Kent. I'm trained to work with a wide range of life issues such as narcissistic and dysfunctional families, estrangement, relationship difficulties, gender identity and sexuality, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism (or a combination of these), depression, trauma, abuse, anxiety, low self-esteem, neurodivergent challenges, guilt and shame, cancer, PTSD and complex PTSD, feeling 'wrong' and 'stuck'.

Having received a diagnosis of ADHD and dyslexia later in life, I understand how being made to feel different can impact your childhood and teenage years and how it shapes your future self, and the effect this can have on your self-esteem and the value you place in yourself. I feel passionate about providing a compassionate neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ affirmative space where you can feel safe to express your thoughts, feelings and emotions.

My clients say that working with me has helped them to feel safe, heard, understood and accepted. More confident to face life challenges and form and maintain fulfilling relationships. My approach is to journey alongside you, helping you to explore your experiences and gain deeper awareness and understanding of who you are, allowing you to realise your inner strengths. I firmly believe that learning to trust, accept and value oneself for who we are, enables us to develop and change to be the best version of ourselves.

Practice description

Perhaps you’ve been struggling over a long time, or something more recently is affecting you. Whatever the issue, you have the safe space to talk openly and honestly about your feelings and emotions. Each session is client-led as you journey together with me to discover empowering ways to reach your answers and drive forward for change.

My unique way of working combines real-world experience with up-to-date therapeutic techniques and perspectives to help you build a more fulfilled and enjoyable life. Whatever your issues, you can express yourself freely and talk through your emotions and experiences in a safe and confidential place without judgement. My compassionate and empathetic style draws on a range of therapy models so that you can better understand your struggles and empower yourself to solve your problems, as therapy provides a sense of self-direction and resilience to grow.

I work face-to-face from a light and spacious therapy practice in central Canterbury, Kent. Sessions can also be held online via Google Meet, Doxy.me.

How to get in touch

I understand how daunting it can be to begin with a new therapist, especially if you’re reaching out for the first time. I offer a free phone consultation to discuss your needs and answer any questions you may have. It takes around 15 minutes, and after that I can determine your support. There is no pressure or obligation to undergo therapy – you’re free to decide how you prefer to proceed.

If you’re interested in engaging in therapy with me, please get in touch. I aim to get back to you within 48 hours or on Monday if you get in touch over the weekend. **I will always respond to your enquiry, so don't forget to check your spam folder. **

Training, qualifications & experience

I feel passionate about bringing my unique combination of real-world experience and up-to-date training and techniques to improve the lives of my clients. I am dedicated to maintaining a contemporary, inclusive and effective counselling practice based on my core values of integrity, empathy and respect.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
