About me
What is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy?
Psychodynamic therapy could be regarded as a more accessible descendant of psychoanalysis. If you are aware of past issues bubbling to the surface and creating obstacles in your life today, this could of benefit to you. You might have noticed a repetition of unwanted patterns that seem to happen as if you are on auto-pilot.
As your therapist, my focus would be more on what might be behind your current symptoms than a focus purely on the symptoms themselves. Through our sessions, we would gently explore and piece together what is going on internally and over time, what has led you to where you are. This process can feel like a more complete picture of your life coming together as more comes into your awareness. Once you are more aware of what is behind your symptoms, it can feel possible to resolve what may have felt out of reach previously.
About Me
As a psychodynamic therapist, I use a combination of psychoanalytic theories and concepts in my work, depending upon what is most appropriate for each client’s needs.
I began my training at the Severnside Institute of Psychotherapy in Bristol before completing my MSc in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling for Adults at Birkbeck College in London. Within my work for several charities and in my private practice, I have helped clients with a wide range of issues. My private practice is called Enter Therapy.
My life experiences combined with my own journey through personal therapy made me realise the positive impact that committing to therapy can have on the quality of life. It is a privilege to be a part of my clients’ internal worlds, working together towards what are often truly life-changing moments. I feel honoured to be a part of the process of therapy for each of my clients.
Practical Information
I provide weekly therapy sessions, either in-person (Reigate) or remotely by video. My opening hours are 9am-3pm, Monday to Friday. I offer short-term or open-ended sessions, depending on what my clients’ aims and hopes are from therapy. Short-term psychodynamic therapy would be suitable for those who are looking to get back on their feet or to have an initial dip into therapy to see how it feels. Working on a longer term basis seeks to work with the patterns that might have emerged over time, and which might be holding someone back from leading the life that they might prefer to.
What I can help with
Psychodynamic therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, C/PTSD, relationship issues, parenting struggles, personality disorders, anger, addictions, emotional pain, grief and loss. The aim in the work is to explore what is behind the symptoms, bringing more into the awareness which leads to deep and meaningful change.
I am happy to have a discussion over the phone to go through any questions that you might have before making your choice. We would begin by having 2 initial consultations (1 each week) to see if psychodynamic therapy would be beneficial to you and and to get a feel for me as your therapist. If we decide to continue thereafter, we would meet at the same time and day each week.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
