About me

I’m Grace, and I am a fully qualified Integrative therapist specialising in Relationships, abuse and trauma. Whatever it is you have experienced that brings you to my page today, I understand just how difficult it is. Through my own lived experiences and both my extensive client work in trauma services, I have witnessed the destruction that these can have on life, our self-esteem, our ability to enjoy the life we have or desperately would like, and of course, our hope for the future.

I understand that things may feel hope-less, but together, we can begin to ask new questions, to find new answers, find new perspectives, and ultimately provide new conditions for growth and healing.

As a result of my specialised integrative training, I am able to offer my clients the multifaceted effective therapies they require to move through and beyond any difficulties they may face, and any associated emotional and physical effects. To reconnect with themselves. To thrive instead of survive. And above all, to reconnect with hope that healing and growth is possible.

I am currently working face to face and online. I am a registered member of the BACP, this means I abide by their code of ethics and training standards.

Alongside my private practice at Reconnect, I am a psychotherapist and DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) group facilitator for a charity who provide counselling to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, and their families. Prior to this I worked for 2 years at Portsmouth Abuse and Rape Counselling Service (PARCS).

Outside of my clinical work, I have an interest in the restorative properties of sound, which are believed to aid regulation of the autonomic nervous system to overcome physical trauma symptoms. I therefore have a sound therapy qualification and hold one to one sound therapy sessions, as well as holistic group sound therapy for general wellbeing and corporate mental health days.
Before my Psychotherapy training and career, I coached women within the fashion industry. I therefore have a special understanding and interest in body image, socio-cultural gender stereotypes, feminism, and empowerment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
