About me

I am a trauma-informed, body-based therapist, fully insured, ICO registered and DBS checked.  I offer a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you. No concern is too small, too big or too complex. Our first conversation - by phone or in person - is a chance to see whether we feel comfortable working together and to begin building a relationship you can trust.

I have over 20 years’ experience as a counsellor, with specialist training in areas including trauma, sexual violence, addiction, safeguarding and child protection. I also have a background in both teaching and drugs work and am experienced in working with young people, groups and multi-agency teams.  I offer one to one counselling, group work and tailored training for organisations.

Counselling is not about giving advice or quick fixes.  It's about being listened to, understanding your feelings and finding your own way forward at a pace that feels right for you.  With time and support, it can bring meaningful and lasting change.

I have worked with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, relationships, self esteem, eating disorders, addiction, stress, OCD, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, sexuality, anger and work-related difficulties.  If you'd like to take the first step, please get in touch.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

In 2023, I qualified in Breathwork after three years of intensive, in-person residential training. I am also a member of the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF) Breathwork is a dynamic, body-based psychotherapy that can bring meaningful results, supporting improvements in mood and anxiety. Conscious connected breathing offers a wide range of physical and emotional benefits and helps clients become aware of lifelong patterns of behaviour and conditioning. I have personally experienced, and repeatedly witnessed, profound transformation through this work.

Clients are invited to a free introductory call, followed by a 10-session journey. Sessions last 2.5–3 hours, allowing time for a deep and supported exploration of your process. I am an experienced therapist, having begun my counselling training in 1998, and I am well-practised in holding space for both individuals and groups, offering steady and informed support throughout the work.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I offer sessions from two locations: ST4 and DE72. The DE72 practice, based at The Elephant Rooms, provides full accessibility for clients with disabilities
