About me

Hello, and Welcome.

Life can throw us curve balls, Covid being a huge one and now the cost of living crisis!

We all struggle sometimes, and maybe need some time alone. Other times we need someone to listen.  Here at Start of the Beginning you can express all your thoughts and feelings safely. In a comfortable and confidential space, without judgement.

Are you finding things have just gotten too much? There may be some deeper trauma or loss you're dealing with and I know it can be really hard to talk to family or friends without feeling like a burden.

Your safety, physical and emotional well-being is at the heart of my practice. I offer a safe, relaxed, non-judgemental space either online or face to face. Where you can explore all your thoughts, feelings and behaviours safely.
It can be hard to talk to those closest to us, especially about those darkest fears and thoughts, without feeling judged or guilty. Talking through all your feelings and emotions can have a positive impact on your life.
It is so important that you find the right counsellor for you.
Having that genuine therapeutic bond with your therapist can make a significant difference to therapeutic outcomes.
I believe given the right conditions, with the right counsellor, you can find your own answers and decide the best way for you to move forward.

I offer one to one confidential and therapeutic counselling online or in person.

Qualification and experience

I am a Qualified Counsellor, and Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP ), and an accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society, (NCPS). This assures you I work ethically, adhering to both the NCPS & BACP guidelines in relation to confidentially and ethics and always working with your best interests at the heart of my practice.

Initially qualifying in Person Centred therapy, which is a non-directive and non-judgemental talking therapy. I now combine this with the more directive Cogitative Behavioural approach.

However I believe you are the expert on you.

I offer a warm safe place for you to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

As a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I use worksheets and psychoeducation to enable you to become your own therapist. I also work using some creative tools and interventions when appropriate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
