About me

A warm welcome to Rainbow Hearts Counselling my name is Gareth and I’m based in Doncaster. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I will walk by your side as you lead the way on your journey to find your rainbow again, no matter how big the storm may have been. Our lifestyles can be so busy and overwhelming, leaving us feeling drained, counselling offers you a break from this. You deserve to be heard, understood and accepted for who you are regardless of what you may have been through in life.

I’m an integrative counsellor and a registered member of the BACP meaning I work with your best interests at heart. I can offer telephone, online and face to face sessions and tailor them to suit your requirements. I can offer a free no obligation chat to see how we could work together.

Taking that first step to counselling can be tough and daunting. Here you will be met with care, support and encouragement to be wholeheartedly you. Sessions can help you recover from past storms and give light to the future ahead, working collaboratively we can find your inner rainbow heart.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with clients for the last 2 years with an additional year spent as a crisis volunteer dealing directly with clients at crisis point. I have worked with clients with a range of presenting worries including Anxiety, Depression, low self-esteem, and stress to name a few.

As a proud LGBTQ therapist my passion is working with the LGBTQ+ community including struggles with gender or sexual identity. I am an affirmative therapist and can support you on your journey with empathy and understanding.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor, holding both a diploma in therapeutic counselling and BA in Counselling Solutions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
