Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My approach

My emphasis is on the whole person and the uniqueness of each individual.  I believe that everyone is able to self-determine the path their life takes and has the strength and resources (or can create them) to achieve their desired outcomes.

Being an integrative counsellor means that I take into account your circumstances and you as an individual, and integrate different therapeutic approaches as needed.

Flexibility

I firmly believe in personal choice and I offer a flexible approach so you can choose how many sessions you attend at any time.

Some clients like to have weekly appointments when they first start, often finding that an initial block of four to eight weeks works well to address their most immediate issues or concerns.

Many clients then return in the future, either for ad hoc sessions or another block of appointments.

Prior to first counselling session

You will be asked to agree to my contract before our first counselling session and I will invite you to complete a brief Pre-Appointment Questionnaire.  Both documents can be viewed in FAQs on my website.

To secure an appointment, full payment by bank transfer is required no later than 24 hours in advance of an appointment. I only accept private paying clients.

Please note: I work Online and by Telephone only.
