About me

Are you afraid to seek counselling for the first time but know that you can't go on the way you are? Or maybe you tried counselling in the past but it just didn't feel right for you. If you have been struggling with anxiety or sadness for a while but you are lost because you don't know how to feel better or even why you feel so bad in the first place, you don't have to work things out alone. Life doesn't have to be like this!

As a BACP registered qualified therapist with a real passion for supporting people who are experiencing anxiety and other mental health challenges, I can help you to work through and process the things that are bothering you, so that you can start to move towards a life you feel happier with.

If you are on autopilot, feeling stuck and just trying to get through the days, it doesn't have to continue this way. Therapy can help you to feel truly heard without judgement or criticism, increase your self awareness and provide you with a safe place to better understand what's happening for you. I can support you in moving towards positive change at a pace that suits you so that you don't have to feel like each day is an uphill struggle.

How do I get started?

As a trauma informed counsellor working in a person-centred way, the therapy I offer is confidential and compassionate. You can be sure that I will truly listen, to support you in tackling the issues that are making like difficult.

Whether you are looking for reflective time to pause and explore what is going on in your head or would like to delve deeper to make sense of where you are, the first step is to make contact with me. With acceptance and understanding, I can help you to explore how you reached this point and support you to feel empowered in living life the way you choose to live it.

I know that making that first step to reach out can feel incredibly daunting but sometimes we know deep down that the time has come to seek some support. If that time for you is now, I would love to hear from you. Contacting me is as easy as a quick email or if you prefer, you can schedule a quick chat over the phone.

What can I help with?

I offer a free 15 minute introductory phone call, in which we can talk about what you are looking to gain from therapy and see if you would like to work together. It's essential to find a counsellor who you feel you can trust and open up with, so you can gain a sense of this without any obligation to continue.

For in person sessions, I have use of two private and secure rooms in HD3 and HD7, easily accessible by public transport or car. I also offer online counselling appointments for those who prefer this option.

During my practice to date I have supported clients with issues concerning but not limited to:

  • General anxiety
  • Social anxiety
  • Depression or low mood
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Attachment issues
  • Work stress

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
