About me

We can all face periods in our lives where we feel troubled, anxious or stressed, and it can be very difficult during these times to ask for help and to reach out for support. Deciding to have some counselling could be a step in the right direction.

I am an Accredited Registered Member of the NCPS (The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) and follow their ethical and professional code of conduct, assuring you, the client, a professional and confidential service.

I hold a Diploma in Person-centred Counselling and Psychotherapy from Glyndwr University which means that I offer a confidential, empathic, safe, and non-judgemental space for the client. I am based in North East Wales and I am available for face-to-face, telephone and online counselling. I also offer Walk and Talk sessions for those who may feel more comfortable in a less structured outdoor setting.

Sharing our burdens with others when life has become difficult has long been shown to give relief from worry and distress. However, talking with someone who is outside your usual circle in a safe and private environment gives an opportunity to work together to explore and unravel the difficulties you may be experiencing, and therefore successful counselling can go further and deeper into the issues than talking with friends and family.

Stress, anxiety, or depression can arise as a result of life events such as bereavement or loss, serious illness, relationship difficulties, redundancy or unemployment. However, sometimes the reason for our distress is not so obvious or clear to us, and psychological difficulties can arise for no apparent reason and so at times, we may need the help of another to explore what's troubling us and help us to find our own answers and solutions.

Work Experience

For many years I enjoyed a career as a holistic practitioner, assisting my clients to feel better through using various therapies. I am qualified in many different modalities including Hypnotherapy and Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping).  I have also studied many more subjects including energy healing and spirituality, as well as The Bowen Technique, and natural nutrition, and have observed the effect that these lifestyle choices have on our health and wellbeing.  During this time, I was also aware of the effect that emotional and mental stress had on the client, and how relieving an emotional or mental problem could sometimes alleviate a physical symptom and vice versa.

How Counselling can Help

Sometimes life events can make us hold back from expressing our true selves.  We would work together towards releasing more potential for you to be yourself and feel more at ease with your situation. Exploring your issues and hopefully getting a different perspective and clarity on your difficulties can help you find ways to cope with them, and sometimes overcome them completely.

You are the expert on you. Therefore, the focus will always be on how you feel and what you want to discuss, and I will support you throughout by assisting you in finding your own answers and your own way of managing or changing a situation.  You may choose to share challenging thoughts and feelings and these will always be received by me without judgement, with understanding, and with respect.

Self-development and wellbeing are particular areas of interest of mine and I promote and encourage self-care in the client. This means that, if you wish, we would look at your life in a holistic (whole person) manner to see if there are some positive changes that you could make to your life to help you feel better.

What I offer

Initially, I offer a free 20-minute telephone conversation to see if we both feel we can work well together, and to see if counselling is the right option for you. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and to find out more about counselling, and to talk about your reasons for seeking counselling.

THE FIRST consultation is an introductory session where I take your details, and we talk about the issues you would like to explore and what you would like to change. We can also discuss how many sessions you are likely to need until you start feeling some relief from your issues. We will review the contract between us – for example what you can expect from me, confidentiality, data protection, length and cost of sessions, and your commitment to the therapy etc.

I am a fluent Welsh speaker and able to work in both English and Welsh.
