About me

Are you struggling with a difficulty in your life and need some help? Would you like to improve your relationships? Do you want to talk to someone who will listen without judgment?

Hello. I’m Emma-Jane and I run Elysium Counselling Services in Wolverhampton where I provide Person Centred Counselling to individuals in a contemporary and relaxed setting. I offer a space to talk so that you can work through your difficulties in complete confidence.

My counselling experience is diverse and includes people who have problems with anxiety, depression, feeling sad, relationship difficulties and family issues including separation and divorce as well as affairs and betrayal, anger, stress, low self esteem and low self confidence. I have also helped people with the emotional trauma of sexual and physical abuse as well as bereavement, trauma and loss.

I’m passionate about my work and the long term benefits of ‘talking therapies’ and am committed to making a difference to my clients’ lives.

I know from personal experience that the world can be a pretty stressful place and that our daily lives can drain us emotionally and physically as we attempt to juggle our work and personal lives. It’s this personal experience, combined with my training, which makes me the counsellor I am which is: down to earth, eclectic and committed.

I’m professionally qualified and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am governed by their professional Code of Practice and Ethical Framework.

I’m a firm believer in working with the ‘person’ and not the ‘label’ and this lays the foundation for the way I work.

Whatever the issue I am dedicated to providing counselling in a straightforward, confidential and relaxed setting.

If you would like an informal chat about any issue you may be facing, family issues causing pressures at home or at work then please pick up the phone, or drop me an email or text and we can talk about how I can help you. I promise you listening ears, empathic understanding and absolute confidentiality!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Location and what to expect

Sessions are held in my comfortable home consulting room in a Victorian semi detached house, which is a relaxing and private space for you to explore whatever brings you to therapy. This is situated near Tettenhall in Wolverhampton (postcode WV6) on the A41, close to the M54/M6 and within easy reach of all areas in Wolverhampton including Codsall, Albrighton, Shifnal,Telford, Bridgnorth, Dudley, West Bromwich and Walsall.

The first step is to contact me to arrange a consultation. I generally recommend three consultations because I have found from experience that one consultation does not provide the amount of time needed to fully understand an individuals life experiences.
