About me

Hello, my name is Emily, and I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist trained in Person-Centred and Psychodynamic approaches. I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to healing so I am committed to nurturing that connection with you. I believe the quality of our relationship with ourselves and others greatly impacts our mental and physical wellbeing.

I work in a warm and collaborative way with my clients, where safety and trust are paramount. To me, therapy is a confidential space where we can explore what it means to be human together. I believe in recognising you as a multifaceted being with unique needs. We will embrace all parts of you - the strengths, the challenges, and everything in between - with deep compassion and curiosity. Together, we will create an environment of acceptance and understanding, helping bring your authentic self to the forefront.

I am dedicated to understanding the full depth and spectrum of your experiences at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we will explore your current context through a holistic lens, reflecting on your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in the here and now. I will also provide space for you to reflect on how past relationships may be shaping your present ones, including an exploration of your intergenerational history. My goal is to help you cultivate a deeper and more fulfilling relationship with yourself, fostering greater self-awareness and supporting you in moving forward with balance and intention.

Guided by these principles, I aim to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in care, honesty, and openness. While true honesty can be difficult, I believe real and lasting change often emerges in those challenging and confronting moments, which is always approached with compassion and understanding. My goal is to help you feel supported, knowing there is someone who has your back every step of the way.

I am committed to entering the more difficult and darker spaces alongside you. Together, we will explore the creative potential within life’s contradictions and complexities, cultivating the strength to move forward when it may feel hopeless. I believe that embracing moments of joy and lightness is an important part of the healing and growth process, and I look forward to sharing these moments with you as we work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy completed at Roehampton University in London.

I currently work full time as a private practitioner, offering online sessions to meet the needs of individuals who may be facing barriers to accessing face to face sessions.

I have experience of working as an EAP therapist (employee assistance programme), supporting clients with a wide range of personal and work related issues.

I was previously a therapist for Mind in South East London, providing NHS Talking Therapy services to the community. I have also provided therapy in local community services in South East Kent. I have experience working with clients both short-term and long-term, from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures.

I also have considerable experience of working in a category A, high security prison in London as a recovery worker for a charity. This involved working therapeutically with men regarding their alcohol and drug misuse in a one to one setting and group settings. Previous to this, I worked as a tutor, supporting large groups of adults from disadvantaged backgrounds in developing practical and relational skills to help them gain employment.

These roles have allowed me the privilege of working with clients from a variety of life experiences, each navigating their own unique challenges on their journey towards better mental and physical well-being.

I have a background in illustration and would love to hear about your creative interests and how they support your personal growth and wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
