About me

All people have the potential to be the very best version of themselves, providing they are met with the right conditions. Sometimes, circumstances in people’s lives can act as road blocks and this can lead them down paths they wouldn’t have chosen. Finding the way to fulfilment can be difficult on your own. I can walk alongside you so that together we can get you nearer to where you want to be in your life.

I am trained in integrative counselling, utilising both person-centred and psychodynamic theory. I am able to draw from a variety of theoretical approaches and use a range of tools to customise our counselling sessions, which meets the individual client’s needs. I offer both individual counselling and couples’ or relationship counselling.

In person-centred counselling, the counsellor offers empathy, genuineness (congruence) and unconditional positive regard. The client is the expert about their life and brings to the session what they feel they need to work with. The focus in this approach is in the here and now. Whereas in psychodynamic therapy, the counsellor is more directive: there is more focus on the past and the unconscious. I like to make use of both theories and collaborate with clients to tailor the therapeutic experience to suit individual needs. When working with couples I also use transactional analysis and solution focused therapy.

I am passionate about counselling and psychology and knew I wanted to work as a professional therapist from a young age. I am fascinated by people, and trying to understand what makes them who they are. I am also dedicated to life-long learning and am therefore fully committed to a programme of continuing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
