About me

Couples

If you’re struggling to feel heard, supported and cared for in your relationship, Counselling can help you. Are you trapped in a repetitive cycle of blame and counter-blame? I can work with you to create a different relationship where you rediscover a curiosity about each other and where you feel understood, supported and loved.

Individual Counselling

Are you feeling flat, experiencing anxiety, depression or low self-confidence? Are you struggling in your couple, family or work relationships? I can work with you to change the way you see and feel about yourself, opening up new opportunities for how you live your life in ways that are more in keeping with what you value most.

Separation Counselling

If you’re thinking about separation from your partner or have decided to end your couple relationship, I can work with you to negotiate a respectful and collaborative process of separation. Both partners and any children can benefit hugely from this at a time of dramatic change.

Welcome! I am a professionally qualified counsellor/psychotherapist and Registered Member of BACP, working in private practice in the Cobham area. I offer a safe, relaxed, non-judgemental and confidential environment in which to talk things through and explore possibilities.

I work with couples and individuals, addressing relationship issues and difficulties such as depression, anxiety and generalised anxiety, self-esteem, stress, bereavement, affairs, family issues, separation and divorce, trust and communication. We can work together on a short-term basis for specific issues or longer term for deeper, transformative work.

I recognise that people experience problems but that people are not the problem! I will work with you to discover new ways of understanding difficulties, and of addressing them in keeping with your own unique values and preferred ways of living.

It can feel scary to talk to someone about what most deeply concerns us. You are welcome to contact me for a free exploratory conversation about counselling if you wish to discuss its potential benefits or have any questions about what the process entails.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Some comments from people who have worked with me

'From our first meeting, you made me feel very comfortable and I felt that you really heard and understood me.  You blended validation of my feelings with gentle challenging of my assumptions and helped me to see things in ways that I hadn't been able to on my own.  I am grateful for the work we did together and feel much happier and healthier for it.'

         - Claire

'Things really seem to have settled down nicely and we are finding better ways to communicate and feeling a lot more like a couple again.  The experience of working with you has really helped, you helped us through a very rocky time and we can't thank you enough.'

         - Steve and Louise

'Thank you so much for all your help.  You have really helped me understand how I can approach situations in a calmer and more thoughtful way.  It has made such a difference and all difficult situations are not so difficult now!'

          - David

'We have been amazed by the difference counselling has made to our relationship.  You have helped us through a really difficult time and your insight and understanding have helped us to see past our problems and enjoy each other again.  We feel that our relationship is better now than it has ever been!'

          - Tom and Sally

'Let me say once more how much our counsellor-client relationship has meant to me.  Working with you literally changed my life, wholly for the better, and I will always treasure that experience.  Although that time of my life was undeniably painful and difficult, I now look at it as a time of tremendous growth and a necessary step on the way to a life I'm so much happier with.  I can't thank you enough for being by my side throughout that journey.'
